Preview: Ravenscroft Ravens vs. Trinity Academy Tigers

Ravenscroft has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Trinity Academy Tigers at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Ravenscroft can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent game on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 62-24 win over Durham Academy at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Ravenscroft has posted yet this season.

Autumn Campbell and Ellie Cronin were among the main playmakers for Ravenscroft as the former scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and two steals and the latter scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Cronin hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jj Mitchell, who scored four points along with eight assists and three steals.

Meanwhile, Trinity Academy came tearing into Thursday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on Cary Christian with a sharp 38-17 victory. Given Trinity Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 151st, while Cary Christian is ranked 389th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ravenscroft's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-8. As for Trinity Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season.

Ravenscroft was able to grind out a solid victory over Trinity Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, winning 38-27. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ravenscroft since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
