Volleyball Recap: Austin Comes Up Short

Austin extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 10-17. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Scottsburg Warriors. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Despite the loss, Austin still got an impressive performance from Danielle Nay, who had 42 digs and one assist. Nay is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last six games she's played.

As for Scottsburg, their victory ended a three-match drought on the road and puts them at 6-25. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since September 22nd.

Scottsburg was led to victory by Sophie Gricius and Jules Paris. Gricius had 27 digs and two assists, while Paris had 14 digs and two aces. That's the most digs Paris has posted over her last nine matches. Another player making a difference was Ella Copple, who had ten digs and one assist.

Coming up, after both having extra time off, Austin and Brown County will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Scottsburg, they have already played their next matchup, a 3-1 loss against Charlestown on the 14th.
