Football Recap: Loveland Red Wolves vs. Monarch Coyotes
Loveland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost to the Monarch Coyotes at home by a 38-21 margin. If the Red Wolves were looking for revenge after losing 16-13 to the Coyotes when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Despite the loss, Loveland still got an impressive performance from Jackson Gebhardt, who threw for 129 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 122 yards on only 11 carries. Gebhardt's longest rush was for an impressive 57 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Loveland's leading receiver Cache Villeneuve was Gebhardt's top target yet again, picking up 79 receiving yards and one TD.
Even if they lost, Loveland's defensive line still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Brady Peterson was especially locked on to Monarch's QB and sacked him twice. Another thorn in the Coyotes' side was Tyler Chadwick, who picked up a sack and made ten total tackles.
Loveland's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Monarch, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Loveland will face off against rival Silver Creek at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Monarch is set to take on their familiar foe Greeley West at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
