Basketball Recap: Addison Smith's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Eastern over Silver Creek

Eastern was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 57-43 bruising from the Silver Creek Dragons. While losing is never fun, the Musketeers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 146th, while the Dragons are ranked ninth).

Eastern's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Addison Smith, who posted 11 points and seven steals. Smith has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sidney Burton, who put up 15 points.

Eastern now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Silver Creek, they pushed their record up to 17-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Eastern has already played their next match, a 50-32 win against Paoli on the 28th. As for Silver Creek, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 62-15 victory against Salem on the 27th.
