With a playoff win on the line, Seneca rose to the challenge on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Coal City Coalers a 6-0 shutout. Considering the Fighting Irish have won 26 matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Seneca pushed their record up to 34-1 with the victory, which was their 33rd straight at home dating back to last season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8.5 runs. As for Coal City, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 18-13 record this season.

Seneca will square off against Beecher at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Fighting Irish 1.1, the Bobcats 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Coal City does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
