Recap: Centennial Cougars vs. Page Patriots
On Friday, The Centennial Cougars faced the Page Patriots in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Centennial fell 24-12 to Page. Centennial was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Page apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2020.
Page can attribute much of their success to Ethan Cunningham, who rushed for 158 yards and a touchdown.
Another reason for the win was Page's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 8.5 sacks. It was a group effort, with three picking up two apiece.
This is the second loss in a row for Centennial and nudges their season record down to 8-2. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 10-0 Brentwood (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 95% over those games). As for Page, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
Centennial will head out on the road to face off against Hillsboro at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hillsboro will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings (they are ranked 101st, while Centennial is ranked 23rd). As for Page, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Nolensville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Nolensville will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
