Basketball Recap: Salome Frogs vs. Mayer Wildcats

The Salome Frogs can now show off 13 landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Monday. They blew past Mayer 61-17 at home. Winning may never get old, but Salome sure is getting used to it with their tenth in a row.

Kaniece Thomas continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Thomas is crushing the block category: she's posted at least three every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Yareli Quiroz, who scored 14 points along with three steals.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Mayer struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Salome has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. As for Mayer, they dropped their record down to 11-13-1 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Salome won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Sultans at 5:30 p.m. on January 30th. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (Bagdad: 29.2, the Frogs: 20.5) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Mayer, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Gladiators at 5:30 p.m. on January 30th. North Phoenix Preparatory Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
