Basketball Game Preview: University Cougars vs. Colonial Grenadiers

The University Cougars will face off against the Colonial Grenadiers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in University's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Colonial has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

University had been on a four-game streak of scoring at least 55 points, but Apopka put an end to it on Wednesday. University came up short against Apopka, falling 51-30. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Cougars have suffered since January 12, 2024.

Meanwhile, Colonial hadn't done well against West Orange recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Colonial blew past West Orange, posting a 66-29 victory. Given the Grenadiers' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while the Warriors are ranked 372nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

University's defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-6. As for Colonial, their win bumped their record up to 12-8.

University came up short against Colonial when the teams last played on January 7th, falling 72-63. Can University avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
