Moss Point hasn't had much luck against Greene County recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Tigers will face off against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m.
Moss Point came up short against Resurrection Catholic on Saturday, falling 11-1.
Moss Point saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jonovan Thompson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Greene County entered their tilt with Pass Christian on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Pirates 15-8. Considering the Wildcats have won seven matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Cam Pipkins made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over 5.1 innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Greene County got a big performance out of Zaine Moody, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Carsen Sanford, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Greene County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .578. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Greene County's record is now 14-6. As for Moss Point, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Moss Point has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Greene County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Moss Point suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Greene County in their previous meeting back in March of 2025. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
