Basketball Recap: Charlotte Catholic Skates Past Providence with Ease

Charlotte Catholic waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Providence Panthers 59-32. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 21 points or more this season.

Charlotte Catholic was led to victory by Maggie Kernodle and Megan Shea. Kernodle on her way to 28 points, while Shea en route to 15 points and three steals. The match was Kernodle's fifth in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Evi Hoefling, who posted four points in addition to five assists and five steals.

Charlotte Catholic's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.7 points over those games. As for Providence, their loss dropped their record down to 11-15.

Charlotte Catholic didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-44 defeat against Butler on the 21st. Providence does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
