Basketball Recap: WISH Academy Takes a Loss

After flying high against Animo Pat Brown last Tuesday, WISH Academy came back down to earth. The WISH Academy Owls had to suffer through a 87-54 loss at the hands of the Animo Venice Pirates. The defeat continues a trend for the Owls in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now lost nine in a row.

WISH Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dawit Kebede, who posted ten points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Enoch Tessema, who put up ten points and five boards.

Animo Venice's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Judah Elliot Smith, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds. The contest was Smith's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Rashad Johnson, who went 8 of 20 en route to 21 points and six boards.

WISH Academy's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 8-4. As for Animo Venice, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-11.

WISH Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 64-54 victory against Animo Watts on the 30th. As for Animo Venice, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 53-25 win against Animo Pat Brown on the 30th.
