Baseball Game Preview: Cliffside Park Raiders vs. Leonia Lions

The Cliffside Park Raiders will square off against the Leonia Lions at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Cliffside Park is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Things were looking good for Cliffside Park after they put the first runs on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took an 11-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bergenfield.

Nicolas Ortiz made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Kayden Moeller was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Leonia fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Becton on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 5-4. That's two games in a row now that the Lions have lost by just one run.

Leonia's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Cliffside Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Everything went Cliffside Park's way against Leonia when the teams last played back in April of 2015, as Cliffside Park made off with an 11-2 victory. Do the Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
