League recap: Lucas Christian Academy scores huge upset over Dallas Academy

TCAF Division I District 1 (6 Man) recap Oct. 23, 2012

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Lucas Christian Academy, who took down 54th ranked Dallas Academy, 76-53. Kalen Malett threw for 243 yards and five touchdowns and ran for nine yards in the win.

Westlake Academy extended the longest winning streak in TCAF Division I District 1 (6 Man) this week by beating Trinity Christian, 51-6. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Blacksmiths.

Nick McCune put up the best numbers through the air as Westlake Academy bested Trinity Christian. He finished with a total of 18 completions for 307 yards and five touchdowns. McCune's favorite target this week was Aaron Pinto, who caught four passes for 104 yards.

Jonathan Williams was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 21 carries, he ran for 167 yards as the Bulldogs defeated the Bulldogs. Caleb Thompson also contributed to the rushing game with 88 yards on the ground.

Andrey Ziegler made the biggest impact on defense this week as Dallas Academy fell to Lucas Christian Academy. The senior recorded one fumble.

Portillo was the best wideout in the league this week as Leroy Willis' team topped Jeremy Civello's team. Portillo racked up four receptions for 127 yards. Brady Creech helped Lucas Christian Academy's passing attack out by catching three balls for 92 yards.

Nazarene Christian Academy's Seth Hughes and DeVonte Henderson have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading TCAF Division I District 1 (6 Man) in both passing and receiving yards. Hughes has thrown for 1309 yards this season, while Henderson, a 5-foot-5 receiver, has 34 catches for 587 yards. The Bulldogs' Williams leads the league in rushing yards with 1487.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Westlake Academy takes on second place Lucas Christian Academy. Alan Burt 's team beat Darrell LeJeune's team last week, while the Warriors bested Dallas Academy.

The Bulldogs' Thompson needs only 73 yards against Hill next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Thompson has rushed for 927 yards on 89 carries so far this year.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Blacksmiths take on Lucas Christian Academy. Westlake Academy has allowed 170 points this season, while the Warriors have given up 208. The Blacksmiths allowed 6 points last week as they beat Trinity Christian.

Westlake Academy took down Trinity Christian 51-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. McCune ran for 22 yards in the win.
