Baseball Recap: Grant Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Grant can bid farewell to their nine-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences Vipers 4-3. That's more bragging rights for the Lancers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Fernando Padilla and Juan Zavala did most of the damage at the plate: Padilla got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Zavala got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave Padilla a new career-high. Vijay Garg was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Grant's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-9. As for Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences, they dropped their record down to 1-9 with the loss, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Grant will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Vipers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
