Volleyball Recap: Triad Knights vs. Newton Eagles
Triad was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Newton Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Knights of the 2-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2023.
While Triad had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 16 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-18.
Triad's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Newton, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-4.
Triad will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Civic Memorial at 7:00 p.m. Both are at an even 5-5 against one another since September of 2019, but likely not for long. As for Newton, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss vs. Mt. Zion on the 21st.
