Basketball Recap: Kane Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Eric Novosel and Preston Darr

Kane was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 47-44 heartbreaker at the hands of the Port Allegany Gators. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wolves of the 55-47 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Kane had strong showings from Preston Darr, who went 9 of 18 en route to 23 points and five steals, and Eric Novosel, who posted six points along with eight assists and four steals. Novosel has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played.

Port Allegany's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jarrod Funk, who put up 12 points. Chase Boyd also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Kane's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Port Allegany, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Kane has already played their next match, a 48-31 win against Sheffield on the 24th. As for Port Allegany, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 70-24 victory against Brockway on the 24th.
