Baseball Recap: Dundee-Crown Comes Up Short

Dundee-Crown extended their losing streak to 11 on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 10-19 in the process. They lost 11-1 to the Cary-Grove Trojans. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Chargers have suffered against the Trojans since April 4, 2022.

As for Cary-Grove, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-10. Considering they have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Cary-Grove's part, Charlie Taczy made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Taczy has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jacob Duvall was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three runs. Ricky Barnes was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

While Dundee-Crown had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
