Law came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They were dealt a 49-21 defeat at the hands of the Killingly Trailbazers. While losing is never fun, the Lawmen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut football rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Trailbazers are ranked eighth).

When it comes to explaining why Law lost, don't look at Matthew Witteman. Despite the final result, he threw for 287 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.0 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 76 yards. Brian Gonzalez was Witteman's top target, picking up 146 receiving yards and one TD.

Killingly's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hayden Allard led the charge by rushing for 292 yards and four scores while picking up 12.2 yards per carry. Allard really tore up the turf during one magnificent 70-yard run. Another player making a difference was Joseph Mackie, who gained 167 total yards and two touchdowns.

Having lost for the first time this season, Law fell to 2-1. As for Killingly, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Law will square off against Notre Dame at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Killingly, they will take on New London at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
