Soccer Game Preview: West Potomac vs. Alexandria City

The West Potomac Wolverines are taking a road trip to face off against the Alexandria City Titans at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. West Potomac will be strutting in after a victory while Alexandria City will be coming in after a defeat.

West Potomac was handed a three-goal loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They skirted past Lake Braddock 2-1. The score was all tied up 1-1 at the break, but West Potomac were the better team in the second half.

Meanwhile, Alexandria City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Washington-Liberty.

West Potomac has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for Alexandria City, their loss dropped their record down to 8-3.

West Potomac beat Alexandria City by a goal in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolverines since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
