Basketball Recap: Eagle Pass Comes Up Short

If Eagle Pass was feeling good fresh off their 50-28 takedown of Laredo LBJ on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Eagles lost 57-36 to the Alexander Bulldogs on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 860th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 429th).

Ayla Elizondo was her usual excellent self, going 8-for-19 on her way to 25 points for Alexander. Elizondo's big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kimberly Saavedra, who posted nine points in addition to six steals and five boards.

Eagle Pass dropped their record down to 9-13 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Alexander, the victory got them back to even at 16-16.

Eagle Pass has already played their next contest, a 78-46 loss against United on the 3rd. As for Alexander, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 73-34 win against Laredo LBJ on the 3rd.
