Recap: Mesa Jackrabbits vs. Westwood Warriors
The Mesa Jackrabbits had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They breezed by Westwood at home to the tune of 54-25. Given Mesa's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while Westwood is ranked 201st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Conway Cummard was his usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jarren Galarza, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Mesa is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. As for Westwood, they bumped their record down to 5-14 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mesa will face off against Skyline at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Skyline is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. As for Westwood, they will head out on the road to take on Dobson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
