League recap: Shadow Hills win leads to rise in state rank

Shadow Hills moved up to 611 from 653 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in De Anza. The Knights climbed the ranks as a result of beating Desert Hot Springs 34-7.

Twentynine Palms's dynamic duo of Jake Culver and Talo Wilson proved tough for Yucca Valley to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Culver threw for 172 yards and four touchdowns and Wilson had 80 yards receiving. Nate McClain helped Twentynine Palms' passing attack out by catching two balls for 60 yards.

James Toland was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 34 carries, he ran for 298 yards as Shadow Hills defeated the Trojans. Teammate Martin Hernandez added to the ground attack by rushing for 32 yards.

The Golden Eagles' Steven Steed and Ace Lewis have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Steed has thrown for 1571 yards this season, while Lewis has 39 catches for 663 yards. Toland from Ron Shipley's team leads the league in rushing with 2541 yards.

The Knights made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,336 from 8,737. The advance stemmed from a 34-7 victory over Desert Hot Springs last week.
