Basketball Recap: Richland Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Richland unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell 69-56 to the Hazlehurst Indians on Tuesday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it seven in a row.

Jakavion Johnson was a one-man wrecking crew For Hazlehurst. as he posted 29 points. Johnson's big performance that evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kavarrious Crawford, who put up 12 points.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Richland is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will challenge McLaurin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Hazlehurst, they will take on Loyd Star at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
