Basketball Recap: Cross Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Victory

Cross extended their winning streak to eight games dating back to last season thanks to a huge performance from Ryan Mayers. The Stingrays blew past the Charleston Collegiate Sundevils 53-26 on Tuesday with plenty of help from Mayers, who almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Cross' points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Hollings, who posted five points in addition to six steals and five assists. She has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 24 times she's played.

Cross' victory bumped their record up to 3-0.

Coming up, Cross will face off against John Paul II at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Charleston Collegiate, they will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against Ashley Hall at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
