Baseball Recap: Mundelein Drops Highest Score of Season Against Zion-Benton

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mundelein). They put the hurt on the Zion-Benton Zee-Bees with a sharp 13-3 win on Friday. With that victory, the Mustangs brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Mundelein got a massive performance out of Caden Earing, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI Earing has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brandon Marano, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one double.

Mundelein was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Zion-Benton only posted a batting average of .235.

Mundelein is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-1-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Zion-Benton, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Looking ahead, Mundelein will face off against Grant Community at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Zion-Benton, they will take on Rolling Meadows at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Zee-Bees' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season.
