Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Iredell). They blew past the Statesville Greyhounds 16-3 on Wednesday. Considering the Raiders have won seven matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Thomas Shumaker was a standout: he scored four runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-5. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavier Burgess, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
North Iredell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Statesville only posted an OBP of .429.
North Iredell's win bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Statesville, their loss was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-9.
