Softball Recap: Pana Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Southwestern, Pana was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Litchfield Purple Panthers a 12-0 shutout. The Panthers not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 24th (when they won 20-5).

Joey Laker made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2025.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kennedy Bowker, who went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases and two runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Adrianne Perry, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Pana kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Pana now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Litchfield, they dropped their record down to 3-18 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Pana will head out to challenge Staunton at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Litchfield, they will head out on the road to face off against Vandalia at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
