Baseball Recap: Orange Cove Has No Trouble Against Laton

While Orange Cove put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Laton. The Orange Cove Titans put the hurt on the Laton Mustangs with a sharp 16-0 victory. The Titans haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Adrian Gonzalez looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Armando Martinez and Josiah Guerra did most of the damage at the plate: Martinez scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-3, while Guerra scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases Guerra has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Roman Ocejo, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-3.

Orange Cove hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in three consecutive contests.

Orange Cove's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Laton, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Orange Cove will face off against Legacy Christian Academy at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Orange Cove's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Legacy Christian Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Laton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Strathmore at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Laton has given up an average of 13.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
