Basketball Recap: Fairmont Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Lyric Mcnair and Kimiyah Smith

Fairmont played a tough game on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Hoggard Vikings, falling 39-17. The Golden Tornadoes were down 31-10 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Despite the loss, Fairmont had strong showings from Kimiyah Smith, who posted two points in addition to 12 boards and three steals, and Lyric McNair, who put up seven points along with five rebounds and three steals. McNair is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games she's played dating back to last season.

Among those leading the charge was Tristan Shivers, who had 14 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Fitzgerald, who scored six points and five rebounds.

Fairmont's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Fairmont has already played their next contest, a 58-26 win against Purnell Swett on the 18th. As for Hoggard, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 66-27 victory against Seventy-First on the 20th.
