Softball Recap: Delphi Community Oracles vs. Kankakee Valley Kougars
If Delphi Community was feeling good fresh off their 11-1 takedown of Frankfort on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Oracles fell just short of the Kankakee Valley Kougars by a score of 4-3 on Saturday. The Oracles were not able to make up for their loss to the Kougars from their previous meeting back in May of 2016.
Mairi Cunningham spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Sami Leopard made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. Mady Anderson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Delphi Community now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Kankakee Valley, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
Delphi Community didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 14-9 defeat against West Lafayette on the 13th. As for Kankakee Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 13-0 loss against Crown Point on the 12th.
