Softball Recap: Dos Palos Comes Up Short

Dos Palos was the 5-0 winner over Caruthers when they last played one another back in March of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. Dos Palos fell just short of Caruthers by a score of 3-2 on Saturday.

Breann Raney spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Karina Navarro made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Jayla Bland was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Dos Palos' defeat dropped their record down to 3-5-1. As for Caruthers, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Dos Palos wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 8-0 loss against Justin Garza on the 25th. As for Caruthers, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 7-2 victory against Minarets on the 25th.
