Basketball Game Preview: Messalonskee Eagles vs. Lewiston Blue Devils

The Messalonskee Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Lewiston Blue Devils at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Messalonskee will bounce into Saturday's game after beating Nokomis, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Messalonskee rang in the new year with a 55-47 victory over Nokomis on Thursday.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Lewiston, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They secured a 56-52 W over Portland on Thursday.

Lewiston pushed their record up to 5-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Messalonskee, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.

Messalonskee beat Lewiston 40-31 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Will Messalonskee repeat their success, or does Lewiston have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
