Basketball Recap: Whitmore Lake Comes Up Short

Whitmore Lake has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 53-48 heartbreaker at the hands of the Parkway Christian Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 60-49 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Whitmore Lake lost on Friday, don't look at Nate Dillon. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 25 points and 12 boards. Dillon is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in each of the last ten games he's played. Isaac Fair was another key player, dropping a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Whitmore Lake smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 14 consecutive matchups.

It was another big night for Nathaniel Harrison, who shot 5-for-9 from long range and dropped a double-double with 21 points and 13 boards for Parkway Christian. That's the most points Harrison has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Julian Montano, who earned 13 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists.

Whitmore Lake's loss dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Parkway Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.

Whitmore Lake didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 70-54 victory against Clarenceville on the 10th. As for Parkway Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 59-50 defeat against Clintondale on the 10th.
