Softball Recap: Greenway Takes a Loss

Greenway had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 10-11 to make it four. They came up short against the Buckeye Hawks, falling 12-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Demons of the 7-6 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

Greenway saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daniella Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

As for Buckeye, their record is now 16-7. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by nine runs or more this season.

On Buckeye's side, Valeria Villa (2026) was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Those three hits gave Villa (2026) a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mahinalei Marquez-Pang (2029), who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Greenway will challenge Dysart at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Dysart will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Greenway surely won't give up without a fight. As for Buckeye, they will face off against Willow Canyon at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season.
