Basketball Game Preview: Lake Havasu Knights vs. Kofa Kings

Lake Havasu hasn't had much luck against Kofa recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Lake Havasu Knights will head out on the road to take on the Kofa Kings at 7:00 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Lake Havasu is headed into Monday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Wednesday. They had to suffer through a 73-23 loss at the hands of Sunrise Mountain. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 193rd, while the Mustangs are ranked 17th).

Lexi Tuinstra put forth a good effort for the losing side as she posted 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. That was a full 60.9% of Lake Havasu's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Meanwhile, Kofa suffered their biggest defeat since February 2, 2024 on Friday. They were outmatched by Cibola and fell 81-20. The Kings' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Kofa's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Lake Havasu, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.

Lake Havasu suffered a grim 43-23 defeat to Kofa in their previous meeting back in November of 2023. Thankfully for Lake Havasu, Irene Martinez (who went 7 of 16 en route to 21 points in addition to seven boards and four steals) won't be suiting up this time.
