Baseball Recap: Shelby County Takes a Loss

Shelby County fell victim to North Bullitt and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 1-0. The Rockets have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Jack Stewart spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on seven hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Shelby County is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 9-17 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Shelby County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaiah Bolin, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Shelby County's defeat dropped their record down to 11-18. As for North Bullitt, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-8 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shelby County will venture away from home to take on Henry Clay at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for North Bullitt, they will head out to square off against Nelson County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
