Softball Recap: Carrollton Warriors vs. Tuscarawas Valley Trojans
Carrollton had lost nine straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 8-12 to make it ten. They came up short against the Tuscarawas Valley Trojans, falling 16-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 on Saturday.
Laiken Spilker made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
As for Tuscarawas Valley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 20-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.
On Tuscarawas Valley's side, they got a big performance out of Hailee Rotunno, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs Rotunno has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Delaney Erickson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Looking ahead, Carrollton will be playing in front of their home fans against United at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Tuscarawas Valley, they are taking a road trip to face off against Conotton Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Rockets' pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so the Trojans' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
