Volleyball Recap: Franklin Academy Turns Things Around After Road Loss + How To Watch

There's no place like home for Franklin Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Raleigh Charter Phoenix on Thursday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

While Franklin Academy won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-23, 25-17.

Allie Grace McLaughlin had a dynamite game, getting 17 digs and eight aces. Those eight aces gave her a new career-high.

McLaughlin wasn't the only good server: Franklin Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 15 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 15 aces in three consecutive matchups.

Franklin Academy's record now sits at 3-9. As for Raleigh Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.

Coincidentally, Franklin Academy and Raleigh Charter will both be playing NCSSM: Durham the next time they take the court. The Patriots will host the Unicorns at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Phoenix will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
