Preview: Kelly Walsh Trojans vs. Rock Springs Tigers
The Kelly Walsh Trojans and the Rock Springs Tigers will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both teams were dealt some close losses in their previous games and are determined not to let this one get away.
Last Saturday, Kelly Walsh faced Riverton in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Kelly Walsh fell just short of Riverton by a score of 43-41. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Kelly Walsh has suffered yet this season.
The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Mason Eager and Parker Paxton. Paxton had a solid game and scored seven points along with six rebounds. Meanwhile, Eager did his best for the losing side, scoring 14 points.
Even though they lost, Kelly Walsh smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Riverton only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought matchup, but Rock Springs had to settle for a 41-38 defeat against Cody on Saturday. Rock Springs has not had much luck with Cody recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Kelly Walsh bumped their record down to 5-8 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Rock Springs, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.
