South Pontotoc and Pontotoc are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but likely not for long. The Cougars are taking a road trip to square off against the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

South Pontotoc is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Bruce just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 4-3.

Meanwhile, Pontotoc suffered their biggest loss since February 27th on Friday. They came up short against Corinth, falling 12-3. Pontotoc has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Pontotoc got a good showing from Jake Cooley, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave Cooley a new career-low.

On the hitting side, Hadley Corley was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was his first of the season.

South Pontotoc's record now sits at 9-11. As for Pontotoc, their record is now 15-8.

South Pontotoc couldn't quite get it done against Pontotoc in their previous meeting back in March as they fell 5-2. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
