Baseball Recap: Mary G. Montgomery Comes Up Short

Mary G. Montgomery fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Demopolis on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 5-3 to the Tigers, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Keagan Odom was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Mary G. Montgomery saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anderson Murray, who scored a run while going 2-for-5. That's the most hits Murray has posted since back in February. Tj Wood also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Mary G. Montgomery's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Demopolis, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-8 record.

Coming up, Mary G. Montgomery will square off against Fairhope at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Demopolis, they will challenge Gordo at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
