Softball Recap: Alvord Victorious

Alvord got themselves on the board against Chico on Monday, but Chico never followed suit. They walked away with a 5-0 win over the Dragons. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.

Makayla Gresham made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Harleigh Black and Bella McDermott did most of the damage at the plate: Black scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while McDermott went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Those two runs gave Black a new career-high.

The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 4-7. As for Chico, they dropped their record down to 11-11 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Alvord will take on rival Muenster at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Chico is set to square off against their familiar foe Lindsay at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
