Basketball Game Preview: Avon Lake Shoremen vs. Gilmour Academy Lancers

The Avon Lake Shoremen will challenge the Gilmour Academy Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Friday, Avon Lake came up short against Barberton and fell 67-54. While losing is never fun, the Shoremen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 606th, while the Magics are ranked 238th).

Meanwhile, Gilmour Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 68-64 heartbreaker at the hands of Central Catholic. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (61), the Lancers still had to take the loss.

This is the second loss in a row for Avon Lake and nudges their season record down to 1-7. As for Gilmour Academy, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-4.
