Calumet Christian takes loss despite strong efforts from Klarc Taylor and Brad Nymeyer

Recap: Calumet Christian Patriots vs. Hammond Baptist Swordsmen

The Calumet Christian Patriots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. The match between Calumet Christian and Hammond Baptist wasn't particularly close, with Calumet Christian falling 70-53. While losing is never fun, Calumet Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 262nd, while Hammond Baptist is ranked sixth).

Despite the defeat, Calumet Christian had strong showings from Brad Nymeyer, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds, and Klarc Taylor, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds. Isaac Wahl was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with four steals.

Calumet Christian bumped their record down to 7-9 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Hammond Baptist, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Calumet Christian will be home for the holidays to greet Lighthouse College Prep Academy at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Lighthouse College Prep Academy is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Hammond Baptist will be home for the holidays to greet Victory Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Victory Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Hammond Baptist likes a good challenge.
