Baseball Recap: Cleveland Snags Eighth Victory in Last Nine Games

After only one run in their last matchup, Cleveland made sure to put some runs up on the board against South Garner on Thursday. The Rams put the hurt on the Titans with a sharp 14-2 win. Considering the Rams have won 12 games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Mason Rodgers looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, Aubrey Stanley and Alex Hernandez did most of the damage at the plate: Stanley went 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one double, while Hernandez went 3-for-5 with five RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave Hernandez a new career-high. Thad Parker was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Cleveland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Garner only posted an OBP of .333.

Cleveland is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for South Garner, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-18.

As of now, neither Cleveland nor the Titans have any future games scheduled.
