Basketball Recap: Washington Comes Up Short

Washington lost against Franklin Pierce back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Washington Patriots lost 71-46 to the Franklin Pierce Cardinals. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 251st, while the Cardinals are ranked 106th).

It was another big night for Javon Barbee, who went 18 of 28 to rack up 40 points along with seven rebounds and three steals for Franklin Pierce. The matchup was Barbee's 20th in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hakeen Collins, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 boards.

Washington has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season. As for Franklin Pierce, their victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-3.

As of now, neither Washington nor Franklin Pierce have any future games scheduled.
