Softball Recap: San Dimas Takes a Loss

After flying high against Colony last Friday, San Dimas came back down to earth. The Saints fell just short of the Alta Loma Braves by a score of 5-4 on Wednesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Braves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-5 on April 11th.

Audrey Schlim was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Mia Patlan made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and one double. Another player making a difference was Tiffany Villegas, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

San Dimas has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-10-1 record this season. As for Alta Loma, their win bumped their record up to 11-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. San Dimas will challenge Los Altos at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Conquerors' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Saints' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Alta Loma, they will square off against South Hills at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Braves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Huskies have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season.
