Softball Recap: Peru Find Success

Peru took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Maconaquah, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Tigers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Braves on Wednesday, sneaking past 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since April 27, 2024.

Bailee - 'Boo' Kintner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Alilyanah - 'Ila' Johnson was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Kaycee Leffler, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Peru hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Maconaquah struck out seven times.

Peru's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-8. As for Maconaquah, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13.

Looking ahead, Peru will take on Eastern at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Maconaquah, they will square off against Lewis Cass at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
