Preview: Middleton Tigers vs. Humboldt Vikings
Middleton and Humboldt are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Middleton Tigers on the road again on Friday and play against the Humboldt Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. Middleton will be strutting in after a victory while Humboldt will be coming in after a loss.
Middleton scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They walked away with a 63-50 win over Clarksburg. Given Middleton's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while Clarksburg is ranked 341st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Harmony Bell continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 42 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ty'angela Geanes, who scored two points along with ten rebounds and five blocks.
Meanwhile, Humboldt came up short against Dyer County back in December of 2023 and fell 57-45. Humboldt has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Middleton's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Humboldt, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.
Middleton strolled past Humboldt in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a score of 46-30. The rematch might be a little tougher for Middleton since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
