Flag Football Preview: Dougherty Valley Wildcats vs. Livermore Cowboys
The Dougherty Valley Wildcats will head out to square off against the Livermore Cowboys at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Dougherty Valley and six for Livermore.
On Tuesday, Dougherty Valley was beaten by Amador Valley 47-19. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California flag football rankings (they are ranked 295th, while the Dons are ranked 41st).
Despite the loss, Dougherty Valley got top-tier performance from Kaitlyn Lohe, who rushed for 180 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 11.3 yards per carry, and also threw for 226 yards and one TD while completing 76.7% of her passes.
Meanwhile, Livermore came up short against California on Tuesday and fell 25-12. The Cowboys were down 25-0 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Dougherty Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Livermore, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.
Dougherty Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over Livermore in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, winning 34-26.
